This is a very comprehensive review of "51 studies about the impact
of family and community involvement on student achievement, and effective
strategies to connect schools, families and community." It was
published in 2002 by the Southwest Educational Development Laboratory
(SEDL).
Raising Teens:
A Synthesis of Research and a Foundation for Action
(Simpson, A. Rae)
This publication "is the culmination of a groundbreaking initiative
to pull together current research on the parenting of adolescents and
to distill from it key messages for the media, policy makers, practitioners,
and parents." The report was published in 2001 by the Center for
Health Communication, Harvard School of Public Health.

The Family
Involvement Network of Educators (FINE)
at the Harvard Family Research Project (HFRP)
This is a good source for research and project-based information on
parent involvement. FINE members receive a monthly email that describes
the latest family involvement research, toolkits, and training resources.
FINE membership is open to anyone and is free of charge.
National Coalition for Parent Involvement
in Education (NCPIE)
This organization provides a very comprehensive list of organizations
and groups working on involving families and communities in the education
of young people. Information on a variety of resources for families,
educators and administrators is also listed.
The Consortium for Parent Information
and Education (CPIE)
The CPIE is an organization dedicated to empowering parental decision
making by providing parents with the information they need to effectively
guide their children's education.[CPIE is a collaboration of the Laboratory
for Student Success (LSS), the Mid-Atlantic Regional Educational Laboratory
at Temple University; the School District of Philadelphia; the Pennsylvania
Parent Information and Resource Center PA PIRC); and the Philadelphia
